Sarnafil and Sikaplan are distinct product decisions
Sika lists Sarnafil G 410 and S 327 PVC membrane products and Sikaplan Universal options, with different reinforcements and applications. Adhered and mechanically attached configurations have different design requirements. That makes accurate identification important: product thickness, backing, attachment and flashing material can affect the detail being considered. A membrane family listing is not a field determination. Verify submittals, labels and observable conditions before selecting a repair component. Current product data sheets and guide specifications address the selected Sika product and system. Use the document for the exact item under consideration and verify whether it applies to the proposed substrate and roof configuration. Compare the KEE membrane family as a separate option, then verify its substrate, attachment and flashing requirements against the roof under review. If a proposed recovery system is part of the discussion, review its own approved assembly and existing-roof conditions rather than assuming every existing single-ply roof is suitable.
Sika distinguishes Sarnafil G and S constructions by reinforcement and system use: G membranes use fiberglass reinforcement for dimensional stability in adhered systems, while S membranes use polyester reinforcement for mechanically attached systems. Those distinctions make the product suffix and attachment important clues, but field evidence and the applicable current instructions still control the detail selected for a specific roof.
